Welcome to our newest series. In “Friday Favorites,” our team will share a handful of favorite items. These can range from clothes to beauty products to recipes to books and anything in between.

Before you find yourself getting lost in an endless sea of baby feeding accessories, let me share some of my favorites. After testing out a lot of options, I feel confident that these suggestions will make introducing solids a success for you and your babe. Whether you’re up for making your own baby food or would rather purchase pouches, these are great additions to your feeding routine!

Cuisinart Smart Stick

I was gifted with a baby food maker when my first child was born; it hardly made it through my first baby. This hand blender, however, has stood the test of time.

It comes with a grinder and a whisk attachment in addition to the blending bowl that I typically use for purees. It’s so quiet that you can mass-produce mushy goodies while the baby sleeps. It even has a push-button unlock that prevents your older kids (and possibly a sleep-deprived Mom) from a kitchen catastrophe. If you’re on the fence because of the price point, consider that Cuisinart is a trusted brand and you’ll be using this gadget for more than just baby food.

Happy Baby Organic Oatmeal

FDA studies have shown that baby oatmeal has less arsenic than its rice counterpart, making this a great choice. I use it to bind my purees or mix it with a little breastmilk for my baby’s breakfast. With only three ingredients and the essential iron that infants need by 6 months of age, I definitely recommend this for your baby’s first food.

OXO Tot Baby Blocks

Whether you prefer glass or plastic, these are a great investment for your kitchen. They take your homemade baby food from the fridge to the freezer without spilling, and you’ll be able to use them for snacks when that baby becomes a toddler. Plus, they are top-rack dishwasher safe, and all the pieces easily come apart so you can trust they’re getting clean.

Munchkin Soft-Tip Spoon

With so many baby spoons on the market, there are plenty of options. But I prefer these soft-tip spoons. These brightly colored utensils come in a 12 pack at an affordable price. They don’t tip bowls and when placed on the counter or tabletop, their design prevents the tip from touching the surface. My baby loves to hold these while I am preparing his food, and I don’t have to worry about him hurting himself because the tip is soft on his gums and new teeth. These will last you through all stages of baby food feeding and are top-rack dishwasher safe!

Bumkins SuperBib

With almost 4,000 reviews on Amazon, these bibs are a winner!

Not only are they oversized and able to cover most of your baby’s chest and belly, but they also come in a variety of colors. Each pack of three should last you into toddlerhood. My favorite part about them, though, is how easy they are to clean. In the past, I have used waterproof cloth bibs that have a top layer of cotton.  They would stain and the waterproof material would get bunched up over time from washing them in the washing machine. The Bumkins SuperBib can be washed in the washing machine and hung to dry. For messes during mealtime, you can easily wipe the surface and continue with mealtime!
