Aishah Eljirby

Aishah Eljirby

Aishah Eljirby was born and raised in Indiana and spent a few years of her childhood overseas. She met her husband at their local mosque 8 years ago, and it’s been a fun Army adventure since. In the last 8 years, they have gone from being an Army National Guard family to Army Reserves. Aishah is currently a stay at home mom to two fun boys, and she has a passion for science and volunteers at her son’s school’s science lab. She also occasionally tutors college anatomy and Arabic. She loves reading and traveling and considers herself fortunate to have a husband who also is a pilot in the civilian world, which allows them to travel and experience different cultures and gastronomy and to teach their boys how beautiful this world is.

Alicia

Alicia grew up in The West and met her husband at Utah State University where the fun began. In the last 11 years, they have become a National Guard, Army Reserve and now Active Duty family.  The adventures started in Kentucky, East Texas and now the San Antonio area with their two girls. Alicia loves books, especially children’s books and has been collecting/hoarding them long before she had children. Before staying at home with her kids, Alicia taught preschool, served families through community education and worked in various nonprofit organizations. Today, she spends her time loving her girls, trying new foods, finding time to exercise and sneaking in moments to read a book or play the piano.

Grace Selous Bull

Grace Bull

Grace is a Royal Air Force wife and has been for nearly 8 years. She is mama to two fiery girls and one paw pad, and is undeniably British!’ Creative by nature, creative in life she and her family are a consciously creative household. With her background in the arts, before marriage she worked in the London art scene, both at an international auction house as well as for an international art consultancy. Leaving this behind her passion for creativity, art education and the arts didn’t fade but spilled over into her family life. This led her to become an author of a children’s art educational book, Potty About Pots: arts and crafts for home and school and start up her own website, The Rainbow Tree: making creativity accessible. She also began to write for companies like Super Simple. After a particularly difficult deployment last year she has become a strong advocate for creative mindfulness after watching her eldest struggle with anxiety throughout. Using creativity as a tool to get through, she saw her daughter more able to deal with day to day life. Grace believes that creativity is an innate gift every human has and that using it every day allows us to maintain a healthy well being. This is is especially important for children who benefit developmentally, socially, emotionally and mentally in being creative day to day.

She’s also working on her first book and a subscription box start-up that she and a friend are creating to bring a history-based adventure into the homes of kids every month.  If she finds a free moment, Heather loves to read a good historical fiction novel, spend time with her tribe, love on her German Shepherd rescue (Meka), write curriculum for the homeschool co-op that she co-directs, and serve as the Treasurer of Women at Rest Ministries.

During the week, except in off-seasons, Jeannette gets filled up by the two ministries she participates in and Saturday service. When she’s not jotting something down or testing a coffee recipe she found online, she’s probably trying to figure out her second grader’s math homework while reminding herself she should do a workout today. Jennifer Dodrill

jennifer Dodrill

Jen Dodrill is a Navy brat from a long line of Navy brats. Born in Virginia, she moved to the Florida panhandle in 6th grade. They met in June, married the following February, and almost 34 years later are still sweethearts. They moved back to West Tennessee in 2008 after his retirement. Jen stayed home to raise their 5 kids, and she homeschooled the youngest three. The “baby” graduates in May, but Jen refuses to bow to empty-nest syndrome! She teaches Oral Communication as an adjunct instructor for Dyersburg State Community College and writes curriculum under History at Home at TeachersPayTeachers. When she’s not working, she’s spending time with her kids and adorable granddaughters. You can find her on Instagram, Facebook, and her favorite place – Pinterest! Matt Hood, Staff Graphic Designer

Matt_mugshot
Matt is a modern-day Mr. Mom trailing his DoD civilian wife. Currently he’s in Wiesbaden, Germany on PCS No. 4. In 2009, his primary duty changed — forever for the better — when daughter Zoë was born. For five years, he was a full-time, stay-at-home dad (and usually the only daddy in the local, mommy coffee group). When Zoë started kindergarten, Matt started volunteering. First PTA, then launching a chapter of Watch D.O.G.S. (a father-figure involvement and school safety initiative) and dressing up as the school mascot (a plush, green dragon suit that was VERY hot during pep rallies in San Antonio!). Now Matt is starting to work again by combining his love of travel and his knack for illustration and design. Check out his company, Graphics Without Borders.

Melissa Godinez

Melissa Godinez
Melissa is an Air Force spouse who enjoyed 13 years living along the I-35 corridor in North Dakota, Louisiana, and Texas. The Air Force gods finally broke her free of the Central Time zone this summer and sent the family to Hawaii – just five weeks after baby #4 arrived! She works remotely for a non-profit in Louisiana as the Director of Technology and Strategic Operations and is currently pursuing her Project Management certification. Her oldest son (age 9) has Down Syndrome, and her oldest daughter (age 7) has an undiagnosed genetic disorder, so there are a lot of therapy and medical appointments; however, the chaos is balanced with weekly trips to the beach, hikes, and trying new restaurants.

Meredith Nye

Originally from Ohio, she and Ryan will always consider themselves Buckeyes at heart. They love to explore new places and new foods and experience new cultures. Meredith is a runner — stroller runs and trail runs are her favorite! She also enjoys spinning and yoga. She loves to read and is always looking for good recommendations. Most nights you can find her in the kitchen cooking, with a good glass of wine, surrounded by her family.

Sarah Loicano

Sarah_Lociano_ headshot

A mom of two boys and three dogs, Sarah’s life is a bit of a circus. The dogs are barking at the mailman, the baby is learning to crawl and the toddler is running around without pants, and her husband can’t find his keys. But there’s living overseas, learning French, coffee, laughter, photography, dancing with her husband in the kitchen, fresh baked cookies, family travel and adventure planning, and every so often, a chance to serve her country when Sarah works as an Air Force Public Affairs Reservist.

Suzanne Paulo
